This post describes how to get the card working in Windows 7 (BIOS / Bootcamp install) which includes getting Optimus to work (read: Accelerating the internal screen of the laptop). This is mostly getting the software to work, my hardware setup is described more here.

The next project is to make a better and faster docking station using the Sonnet Echo Express SE II which will increase my bandwidth 4 times compared to this setup. It will include an onboard SSD drive and a pair of USB ports so I can boot of the external SSD when using the graphics cards at home. This way I free up much-needed space on the laptop since games and other files only needed when connected to the GPU can stay in the docking station. I will have to get creative with a pci-e riser since this the Sonnet does not have a pci-e reset delay needed for this setup to work.

Change the following settings:- dGPU off- compaction 32-bitA on eGPU and iGPU12. Hit Chainload mbr -> Windows 713. In Windows Install the NVidia driver you downloaded14. I need a more powerful graphics card on my Thinkpad W520 for 3D modeling with high volume data sets and meshes (current graphics card is choppy with the higher volume data sets). Therefore, I need a powerful eGPU setup.
About a year ago i used a W520 with eGPU and i didnt needed the eGPU Setup. I would try to get the PE4L + PSU + Titan or a good GTX780 (there are some good overclocked versions) and test it the normal way. If you get problems you can still buy the eGPU setup if needed.

Thanks to set-eGPU, even real world projects stand to reap serious benefits from an eGPU setup in Final Cut Pro X. Export times for both single pass and multi-pass exports were basically cut in half when using my Vega 64-equipped eGPU.
The downside of not using an external display with your eGPU setup is that only an internal GPU can drive an internal display. This means that draw data will need to be negotiated between the eGPU and iGPU, adding additional overhead. Despite the performance hit of copying draw data from the external GPU back to the internal GPU driving the internal display, significant performance gains can still be yielded.
For Linux users with dedicated NVDIA GPUs the instructions for setup and usage are relatively straight forward. However for MacOS users you can't use the project "out of the box". Not to worry! There are some steps to getting it working nevertheless!
Are other people having issues with grpcio? I have never delved into the python world much, but tried installing an earlier version into the conda environment and cleared the caches. But it will still download the latest version which fails on my M1 mac.
